SAFETY will be the name of the game for more than 1,000 primary school children this week as part of a major initiative aimed at raising awareness of the dangers young people face.
Year 6 pupils from 39 Uttlesford primary schools will attend a series of interactive sessions covering topics such as fire safety, road safety, drug and alcohol awareness, internet safety and bullying awareness.
It is all part of Crucial Crew – an initiative organised by the Uttlesford Community Safety Partnership, made up of the district council, Essex Police, Essex County Council’s road safety and drug/alcohol advisory teams, the NHS and Essex Fire and Rescue.
Over the next five days more than a thousand 10 and 11 year olds will learn more about keeping safe.
Crucial Crew began yesterday (Wednesday) and runs through to next Tuesday (June 19) at Clarence House, in Newbiggen Street, Thaxted.
