Applications are now open for organisations eager to secure capital grants for their community projects.

During the last 12 months the Stansted Airport Community Trust has awarded £66,000 in grants to a wide variety of organisations within a 10-mile radius of the Uttlesford transport hub.

Grants have been given for such projects as a composting loo at St Edmunds Church, Abbess Roding, and new equipment for the Dunmow Majorettes.

To apply for funding of up to £2,000, contact SACT, PO Box 11, County Hal, Chelmsford CM1 1LX or e-mail cllr.susan.barker@essex.gov.uk for an application form or advice.

Closing date for applications is August 31.
