Children at St Mary’s Primary School experienced other cultures during International Day.
St Mary's Primary School International DayLast week students painted in Aboriginal and Indian styles, performed and learnt about the meaning of the Haka – the New Zealand dance – ate Estonian hotdogs and played boules, as well as learnt new languages.
Elizabeth Dodd, the school’s French teacher, organised the day.
“The day is run in conjunction with the European Union’s International Day of Languages and gives children the chance to experience other cultures from all over the world,” she said.
“Young children are often unaware of other cultures because they do not see them everyday so it is important that they see and experience how others live.”
