The return of the Uttlesford Business Awards is a great opportunity to showcase excellence – according to the headline sponsor.

Stansted Airport, which was the main sponsor of the inaugural awards in 2017, has said it is “delighted” to support the second annual awards.

Chris Wiggan, head of external affairs at Stansted Airport, said: “The Uttlesford Business Awards are a fantastic opportunity for companies from across the district, no matter what size or from what sector, to showcase their excellence and celebrate their successes – so London Stansted Airport is once again delighted to support this great event.

“As a major economic driver within the region, we have a long-standing and very productive relationship with local businesses.

“We believe it’s really important to champion their commitment, creativity and innovation to ensure they receive the recognition they deserve, and these awards do just that.”

The awards are run by Archant, publishers of the Saffron Walden Reporter and the Dunmow Broadcast newspapers.

Archant’s Essex editor Will Lodge said: “This year’s event was a great success and definitely a night to remember.

“As part of the judging panel I know just how many strong entries we had from across the district in all categories at last year’s awards.

“One of the most exciting things I felt while judging the awards was that all of the companies – even those who did not make the finals – showed so much potential, and I knew then I could not wait to see what their entries would look like the following year.

“I urge every business in the district to look at the categories and which they might enter, and to start thinking about how to really make their entries stand out from the crowd.”

Also supporting the awards is Uttlesford District Council, which is sponsoring the New Business category.

Howard Ryles, cabinet member for economic development, said: “I’m very pleased that once again Uttlesford District Council has chosen to sponsor an award following the success of the inaugural event earlier this year.

“New Business of the Year is an especially important category, as the awards aren’t just about recognising established success and development, of which there is a great deal, but they are about identifying and supporting new and emerging businesses which are the key to a varied and thriving local economy.

“I look forward to seeing the nominations come in, and to celebrating the innovation and dedication on show across the district at the awards ceremony next year.”

The deadline for entries is April 6, 2018.

The awards ceremony will take place at Quendon Hall on June 14, 2018.

Mr Lodge added: “As newspapers at the heart of our communities, we are keen to celebrate the success of the businesses who serve the local economy.”
