Man arrested after gun incident in Dunmow

Officers investigating reports of a man seen with a gun in Dunmow have made an arrest in connection with the investigation.
Police had received reports on the afternoon of Thursday, January 24, that a man had been seen with what was described as a gun in the waistband of his trousers while in the Poplars area.
At the time an armed search of the area was carried out and the police helicopter was also deployed but no intial trace of the suspect was found.
On Friday, January 25, police arrested an 18-year-old man from the Dunmow area in connection with the investigation. He was taken to a police station for questioning and has been bailed to report back on Thursday February 14.
A suspected BB gun has also been recovered.
