TRAFFIC cops managed to collect fines totalling £2420 in just one day as they hunted for dangerous and poorly driven lorries at the M11 Junction 8 services.
During Operation Mermaid three mechanical prohibitions were issued, stopping the vehicles from carrying on until vital repairs were carried out.
Two vehicles were issued with driver’s hours prohibitions and a further 242 driver’s hours infringements were discovered and dealt with by fixed penalty notices.
The stops took place on Wednesday July 28 as part of a nationwide campaign to improve road safety and rid the county’s roads of dangerous and poorly-driven lorries.
