M11 lorry blaze tackled by Essex fire crews
Fire crews from Stansted, Newport and Great Dunmow were among those called to tackle a lorry blaze on the M11.
The articulated lorry caught alight at around 1.55pm on Monday, September 4, between junctions eight and seven on the southbound carriageway of the motorway.
Firefighters from Harlow also attended the incident.
The road was temporarily shut so firefighters could deal with the blaze safely.
As well as destroying the lorry’s cab, the fire also spread to the trailer which contained wood chippings and sand.
The fire was extinguished by 2.45pm.
Crews wore breathing apparatus while they tackled the fire.
Following the incident, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service released a photo of the burnt out lorry showing the extent of the damage caused.
