By the early 1900s the company had moved onto making motorcycles, and was involved in the early days of electrical retailing. During WWII, Perkins serviced and repaired military vehicles to assist with the war effort. In 1954, the Ford franchise had arrived, relocated to Dunmow in 1997 and to Rayne in 2005.

Throughout this time the business remains proudly independent, and still in family ownership.

A spokesman for Perkins said: “It’s our job to help choose and maintain the right car to keep you and your family safe.”

All cars are fully prepared in Perkins’ Ford Authorised workshop, and sold with the balance of Ford warranty, which can be extended with a Ford Protect warranty for up to three more years.

Every member of sales staff is registered with the Finance Conduct Authority to offer honest and impartial advice about Perkins’ massive range of finance options to suit your individual needs and circumstances.

Perkins welcomes part-exchanges, which will be professionally appraised by one of the team (who have more than 100 years’ experience between them).

The spokesman added: “Buying a car should be easy and fun for all the family. We look forward to welcoming you to our dealership so you can find out why we have gained an enviable reputation for delivering exceptional customer care.”
