We will have live coverage of the 2017 general election result from Saffron Walden here.

After two months' campaigning, general election day has arrived. After two months' campaigning, general election day has arrived.

We will also be keeping you up-to-date on the result from the Braintree constituency for those readers who live across that political border.

Our live coverage will begin from 10pm, when the polls close, and continue until the result is in.

Whatever happens in Saffron Walden tonight the constituency will have a new MP after Sir Alan Haselhurst stepped down following almost 40 years of service in the seat.

Those vying for your votes are: Kemi Badenoch (C); Jane Berney (L); Mike Hibbs (LD) and Lorna Howe (Ukip).
