Archant

Three musicians from Felsted School have reached the next round of the Pro Corda Chamber Music Festival after wowing judges earlier this month.

Sophie-Dorothe Lieke, 17 from Tanzania, Olivia Schwier, 17 from Wethersfield, and Pascal Rubinstein, 15 from Germany, formed an instrumental group and impressed the judges with their performance.

Felsted, who recently announced a new partnership with the Junior Guildhall for Music, has hosted a round of the competition for the past few years.

The Pro Corda Festival is a nation-wide competition in which small instrumental groups can take part. The groups get expert feedback on their performances from two specialist adjudicators and some progress through to further rounds of the competition.

Director of music James Lowry said: “One member of staff actually won a previous incarnation of this competition! This year, four groups from Felsted took part. They performed really well, and were given excellent feedback.”

The groups all went on to perform, along with other chamber groups, in a concert at Felsted on February 6.
