With more acts set to perform than ever before, there will definitely be something for everyone at this year’s Dunmow Carnival.
Organisers promise this will be the biggest and best carnival yet, which dates back to 1951.
With a huge variety of performers, including a tribute act to One Direction, there will also be the usual favourite activities and lots of charity stall raising money for good causes.
Dunmow Carnival and Events Committee member, Peter Noble, said: “Each year everybody has a great time but we are always trying to make it better.
“We have more acts than ever before so there will be something to suit everyone’s taste. I even had a band call me up last week to ask to perform but unfortunately I had to turn them away. They do not realise we start booking acts in October!”
Residents will be able to watch the spectacular procession, made up of incredibly designed floats, travel through the town, when it starts at 1pm. It will finish off at the recreation ground, where the fun continues throughout the day and into the evening.
Surrounding the main arena will be stalls of every description as well as the famous 41 Club Barbecue, the hugely popular Round Table beer tent with a licensed bar, a circus and a massive James Dean funfair.
Arena events which run through the afternoon, including performances from schools, local clubs and other entertainment for all ages.
In the evening the party continues with a live concert. This year, in addition to local bands the Downside, Autumn Stone and The Johnson Brothers, international classical duo Sul Fiato, will be wowing the crowds.
Following the massive firework display – which receives rave reviews each year – the party will continue with One Step Behind - The Masters of Madness and Total Jam.
The free event, on September 20, supports local charities and organisations. Each year, an estimated £40,000 is raised.
