A doting daughter has raised hundreds of pound to help find a cure for cancer, after being inspired by her mum.

Last year Amie Reynolds found out her mum, Linda, had secondary cancer. To show her support the 19-year-old decided to hold an event to raise money for Cancer Research.

On Saturday Amie, along with a friend, headed to London for the fundraiser at the Ace Café. They raised more than £450 with the help of a car show and raffle.

“It was a very good day with a brilliant turn-out,” said Amie. “I really wanted to put something on to show my support to everyone who is suffering with this illness and show that every little helps.”

Aime was just 14 when Linda was first diagnosed with breast cancer. Last year – five years after her 62-year-old mum had been given the all-clear – they were told the cancer had spread.

This has meant Aime’s childhood has been much different from her peers, and it is routine for her to care for her mum.

“When mum was first diagnosed I think it all went over my head a bit because I was so young,” she said.

“Back then it seemed they just took the cancer away and it was fine. But it is much worse this time. It has been really hard and I think I have had to grow up a lot more than many of my friends.”

“I don’t really go out or drink – my life has really changed.”
