250 people attended the Cambridge Chord Company concert held at St Mary’s in aid of the church re-roofing fund.

Back in September the church was raided twice by metal thieves who stole lead from the roof, putting an unexpected extra cost in maintaining the historic town building.

However, The Rotary Club of Dunmow stepped in to host the concert – an evening of wonderful harmonies, humour and rousing songs – and raised an impressive £2,590 to boot.

The company performed a variety of songs ranging from Lennon and McCartney classics, such as Norwegian Wood and a spirited rendition of The Teddy Bear’s Picnic.

The concert, in two halves, also featured the Footlights Barbershop quartet and the Tom & Dave Duo. Musical director was Bob Croft and the choir’s Master of Ceremonies was Tom Box.
