THE DUNMOW Players raised more than £300 for charity in collections at their performances of Oliver!

Vic Reeves, who played Mr Browlow in the Dunmow Players production of Oliver! had his beard shaved to help raise more than £300 for charity

The total included £69 raised by cast member Vic Ranger – Mr Brownlow in the production – who had a sponsored shave after the show’s last performance.

The money will be donated to the Alan Morement Memorial Fund, based in Little Bardfield, the UK’s only charity that deals with cholangiocarcinoma.

A spokesman from the charity said: “The fantastic performances from the Dunmow Players sent everyone off in such a good mood.

“They happily showed their generosity at the collection buckets as they left the hall and the icing on the cake was Vic’s decision to do a sponsored beard shave after the last performance.

“We are delighted that they decided to support us during their performances and are incredibly grateful for their efforts.”

Cholangiocarcinoma, also known as bile duct cancer, is a disease that attacks the tissues in the bile duct, a tube that connects the liver and gallbladder to the small intestine.
