Firefighters were called to a field fire in Stebbing on Saturday (July 14) afternoon.

At 3.16pm crews from Witham, Dunmow, Braintree, Thaxted, Halstead and South Woodham Ferrers were called to a fire in Stebbing Green.

At 4.30pm crews reported that approximately 15 hectares of field had been affected by the fire.

Firefighters worked quickly to stop the fire spreading and then brought it under control by dividing it into sections and used hose reel jets and beaters to tackle it.

Essex County Fire & Rescue Service said firefighters will continue to check the area for hot spots and ensure it is safe.
