POLICE were called in to break up a “loud and abusive” mob last night which had gathered outside what is believed to be the home of paedophile Leslie Blanchard.
Neighbours and business owners witnessed angry shouting from a group of people. One woman described it has “unsavoury and not nice.” She added: “They were loud and abusive.”
Blanchard, 53, was convicted of trying to arrange sex with a 12-year-old in 2009 and has recently moved into Great Dunmow. He is currently serving a three-year community sentence.
However, his presence has sparked anger amongst residents.
One mother of a nine-year-old child was amongst a swathe of people who have voiced concerns publicly and to their friends on social network site Facebook.
She told the Dunmow Broadcast: “I have lived here for years and used to feel safe. This is very worrying because now my daughter is getting older I have started letting her play out in the street – I feel I cannot do this now.”
Blanchard owns a car which has been bombarded with eggs and flour. But neighbours say he hasn’t been seen for days.
Last week it was revealed that he swapped indecent pictures with Jon Venables who killed toddler Jamie Bulger in Merseyside in 1993.
Venables was jailed again last week for possessing indecent images of children.

I think the reporter who wrote this was on a different street! There was no angry mob. There were a few concerned residents standing peacefully outside while the search team did their job. Our children were playing together on the grass. When the police confirmed the flat was empty and took some evidence away we all went in feeling alot safer. The car has been removed as it was becoming a safety issue and residents asked police for it's removal. The residents of haslers lane have been very calm and supportive of each other. I do not like that we are being portrayed as an abusive mob!

Not a lot of support being given to the residents, who are having to suffer all the noise and abuse. But the good news is that his car has now been removed
